A crafty Christmas
This was so much fun for me I just had to share!
Chelle and Fairlight, over at Domestic Bliss, organized a Happy Handmade Christmas swap.
It sounded wonderful to me, so I signed up ( a little late by the way - in my signature oh-so-promptness *wink*. They were kind enough to allow me to join any way). I was given the name, blog address, and a few preferences of some one I had never met before. I would craft a few things for her and she would do the same for me.
I was just about giddy over it and thoroughly enjoyed my crafting time. Through exploring her blog I saw that Jill and her husband had recently had a baby, so I made a little "Baby's first Christmas" ornament. This is before I got the ribbon on top to hang it with - but you get the idea. I also made a wall plaque, burned a Christmas CD, and whipped up some tasty little cookies (I use the word "whipped up" because it just makes me feel like an accomplished crafter/baker. It's just one of those things. Desperate? Maybe. But only a little). I then threw in a few more goodies and headed to the post office.
A few days later a large box was stuffed into my mailbox. You guys, I was so much like a kid when I got the mail that day. :) My boys were cautiously curious of their mama's giddy squeals.
Look at this! Jill had made a snow man and lady out of socks! They have adorable little knitted hats and scarves! I am just in love! I named them Scarlet and Henry.
Also enclosed in my wonderful little package from her was this wall hanging. Can you even imagine the talent required to do this? It's such a beautiful reminder of Jesus' birth.
There was also chocolate and a Christmas CD. It was all just too lovely not to share.

I love what you made:) That sounds like so much fun! I would have liked to do that this year. Maybe next year:)
I love that wall plaque. You need to leave intructions on how to make one! :)
You did a great job on your craft projects! I love the snowman couple!
That is so crafty! I am super impressed!!
I knew there was craftyness in you ;)
your ornament is simply the sweetest. I adore those snowmens, they are so stinkin' cute...will you ask her to demonstrate how to make them so we can have our own Scarlet and Henrys? I love that wall hanging, WOW it is gorgeous. You are one lucky lady!
how fun!
Wow, you are so creative (actually so is the person who sent you a gift). That is a really neat idea!
Oh what fun!
such sweet little crafts! It looks like you really are a nifty little crafty/baker so you are allowed to use the term "whipped up" lol
I L.O.V.E. the snowmen made out of socks!!! How cute is that! Makes me want to give that a shot lol
Loves and Hugs to you!
TOO cute!! :o)
The things you made and received are just beautiful! I'm so glad you were able to participate.

wendi...beautiful! both your and jill's projects...and oh how i know jill will/already does love the little creations you made her. i am actually on my way to her house later today! :) now i just need to talk her into a snowman couple and wall hanging for my house--and some Christmas music too...i can't my Christmas CDs this year...which is so sad. i'm just glad the Christian station here is running 7 days of Christmas music starting Friday...and it is all very Jesus-centered Christmas music, which i love even more. I will be posting pictures of my swap stuff later today.
What an incredible idea!!! Very neat.
What fun!
Look at you, getting all crafty, whipping up treats (and yes, I have no doubt that you did indeed whip them up because I know you are a wonderful and accomplished baker. Yes you are.) :)
Did you use Mod Podge stuff (sorry, I lack the technical know-how when it comes to this stuff) on the little plaques that you made? I have a jar of it sitting here but I'm a little scared of it...not sure what to do with it. But you have inspired me, so maybe I'll give it a shot.
Please please please put the instructions for how you made the wall plaque! It is fabulous!
I love the crafts!! Good job!
i have seen you post comments on several people's blogs & just wanted to come over & say hi.
