Road trip adventures

Whew!
Totally the way I feel after having accompanied my 1, 3, 5, and 30-ish yr. old guys on a road trip. It was good. We had great times, but any one who has ever taken 3 young kids on a car trip which lasts any longer than about 30 minutes understands how crazy it can be. Let me just add that this was our first road trip of any length with a semi potty trained little one. Gives it a whole new dimension...let me tell you! :)

Our adventure began Friday afternoon as we started on the 4
1/2 hour trip to our hotel. Dave's uncle got married Saturday afternoon and we were really pleased to be able to attend this special event. We decided to make it a two day journey, and enjoy some quality family time.

Although it was raining so hard our van just about floated away while we were in McDonald's, we safely arrived at our destination Friday night. Jay was pretty constant with his, "Are we at the hotel? Are we at the hotel?!" -his form of "ARE WE THERE YET?!" Yeah, that started about 20 minutes into the trip...but that's why radios have volumes, right??

For little boys, life doesn't get much better than this:

And of course we know playing in the water makes little boys sleepy!

But alas, the littlest one fought sleep for all he was worth. I kind of expected it, but it still didn't make it easy at the time.
Mishaps were of a very minor degree, like Noe exploring the trash and making it his mission to distribute it through out the room..why do they do this?

And Noe dumping a glass of water on the only dressy outfit I had brought for him to wear to the wedding, just minutes before we needed to leave (I am sensing a theme in the mishaps category here...NOE), That's why they have hair dryers in hotel rooms though, right?

We saw some truly beautiful sights along the way...

...and really enjoyed our time together!
It was great. It was constant. In the end we all felt a bit like this:

Now to the suit cases which have thrown up all over my house... oh the joy of de-vacationing. :)

The last picture reminded me so much of one of my boys, but I can't pinpoint which.
Glad your home! Good luck with the exploding suitcases!
We were praying for you!

though we only had the girls for half of our "road trip" this weekend...i can so relate to the joys of riding in the car with the little ones for a longer period of time. my goodness..it definitely doubles travel time! :)

I love that your suitcases threw up. Had me laughing so hard. We are taking a trip to Florida this summer and after really pondering the joys of a two day car ride we decided it was worth the little bit extra to fly!! I haven't brought myself to travel farther than two and a half hours with our boys. Kudos to you guys!!

Getting ready for a 10 day trip myself.

Ahh! Traveling with toddlers! Kate from "Jon & Kate plus 8" once said it best, "my life could be a movie titled inconvenient peeing." Looks like everyone had fun!
