Rising up and calling her blessed...

I was around four years old in the picture on the right. I think my mom was a little older than that in the picture on the left, but seriously, how cute was she?!

You know the moms in old time t.v. shows? The ones in the kitchen with the apron on, always working on some edible delicacy. Always meeting the honey at the door with a kiss. always helping the kids out with some social debacle or awful homework question. Yep, that was my mom. Those who have this kind of mom are incredibly blessed to have her and those who don't, dream about being nurtured by her.

I used to always think of her in that light; simply my mom. As I have gotten older and learned more about her as a woman I am just astounded by the strength she possesses in that category. I've always known that as a mother she was amazing. Learning more about the completeness of who she is has taught me so much and increased my thankfulness for the miracles that God has brought about in her life.

For those of you who don't, I wish you could know her. I've never known any one who knew her and didn't love her. Someday, when we are both ready, I want to write the story of her life. It is one of the saddest, most victorious, most transformed, most touching, and amazing stories I have ever heard.

For every thing you are. For the amazing journey God has brought you on. For being the incredible mother of 5 kids in an 8 year span... (Phew! Makes me tired to think about you at the stage of life I am at). :) I love you. Happy Mothers Day. Happy birthday. I want to be you when I grow up.
