Boys + Quilts

This is way too good not to share.

So, our church has this "quilt ministry". A bunch of lovely ladies got together earlier this year and cut,

and cut,

       and cut

                  little squares of material.

The goal was to make quilt kits that others from church would take home, and many quilt fronts would be sewn. Once the tops are done, they will assemble all of the quilts, do the necessary quilting and finishing and donate them to those in need in the community.

I kept thinking about grabbing one, I mean I do have a sewing machine.

I have learned how to use it.

Kind of.

But I wasn't sure I would know what to do, or get it done in a timely manner, with everything else going on  in my life.

I finally grabbed a bag of various quilt squares last week and brought it home. The boys were ecstatic. Anything crafty/creative is like a vacation to these dudes. They.love.it.

Yesterday, as I was getting ready for church, Noe asked if he could get the squares out and begin designing a quilt with them. I consented.

This is what our living room floor looked like for the next hour.

He had very specific idea about what he wanted this quilt to look like. A cross in the middle was a must.

When I complimented him on his mad design skills he said:

"Mom, it's like, there is always art in my head, and I can't wait to get it out of my head"

Hello child with mama's heart beating inside of your body. I love you.

There's always art in my head too.

So, then Jay hears that Mr. Noe has designed an entire quilt top while he had gone to church early with Dave, preparing for the worship service.

We can't have that.
We just can not have that.

So, he picks his own quilt bag that very morning, and begins his design right away.

(Sorry babe, I had to put these up. I just had to…)

And that is how they all came together. *grin*
