Just some things I don't want to forget.

I know my three little boys won't be little forever. In fact, if the majority of the general populace is indeed correct, these years will fly by in a way which will leave me longing to have them back. So I don't want to forget. I want to remember how Jay says 'float' instead of 'fly'. As in "Mom, I want to go float my kite today" and, "Mom, I wish I was a bird so I could float!". I want to remember K's teasing look and uncontrollable giggles when he thinks he "got" us. I don't want to forget Noe as a one year old. I never felt like putting the brakes on the growing process with K and Jay. It was exciting to see them develop and change. But my Noe - well, he's my baby. He will be two in 20 days. Oh my. I want to savor each moment. I want to remember the way that each morning we must bring all of his 'friends' out of his crib and down stairs. And then when nap time rolls around they all have to go back up with him. His friends consist of: a small stuffed Chihuahua, which says "Yo Quero taco Bell" when you press his tummy and is affectionately referred to as "Taco Bell", a soft white blanket made by aunt Amy, a soft blue blanket with bears on it, a stuffed puppy that Dave had when he was 8 years old, a stuffed bear/blankie combo, a glow worm that plays music and is affectionately referred to as "Baby", and a flat little pillow with plaid apples on it. And let me tell you, he knows when one of them is missing. Right now he is tucked comfortably in his crib with all of his "friends". I don't want to forget the way all three boys can fight together like crazy (wouldn't mind forgetting that part), but when it really comes down to it they are obviously crazy about each other. Evidence of that lies in the way Noe mopes around each time the bus picks K up and the way he visibly brightens when he wakes up from his nap and is reunited with his hero older brother. As well as the way Jay pretends that Noe is his sworn enemy only to show real concern when Noe gets hurt or needs some thing. He has even been known to go get Noe's blankie for him a time or two - although it is usually rather covertly so as to keep up his bad boy image. I don't want to forget the way Jay looks when he bumbles down the stairs around 7:15 am in his footie jammies - still half asleep. Those blond cowlicks in the back of his hair go in opposing directions and have never cooperated. When I hear those little slippers on the stairs I know I will be met by half open blue eyes and crazy hair. I will get about 2 minutes of cuddling out of him before he starts his day with fervor. I don't want to forget the way Noe reminds us to pray before our meals/snacks/naps/bedtime/any time he deems appropriate. I love his insistent "Pray, Pray!" and his halting words "Dear Jesus - mumble mumble mumble - Mommy- mumble mumble mumble - Daddy- um um - Jay - K, -AMEN!" And then he looks up with this ever so proud of himself grin. So much stuff. I hope I don't forget.

This was such a sweet post and I can totally relate! My son turns two on Thursday. I feel like I blinked and a whole year flew by.

My son, around age 2, used to pray, "Night Jesus. Amen."

He's a 43 year-old pastor now. :-)

That was a great list of things to not forget, and one thing I have learned with my oldest almost 20 now is that if I look daily I am given another memory I don't want to forget!!!

Thanks for sharing about your precious little people.

You must get a picture of that sleepy fellow and put that paragraph on a scrap page about him.

I think not forgetting is part of the reason I Scrap & Blog.

I adore this post...the whole reason I started keeping a blog was to write all the little things down, the things I thought I might forget, if I didn't.
Your boys are so precious...like their Mommy. Loving the glimpses into your sweet likfe, as you treasure these days.

Keep a journal...cause the yrs will fade the memories. My oldest is 13 and sometimes she remembers things I don't...sigh.

Bless...shell

I just stumbled upon your blog and I can really identify with what you're saying. I think mornings are some of my favorite times. I love to hear my daughter shuffle her feet in her little footie PJ's.

Children are such gifts -- so innocent and precious.

Thanks for posting this.

Bless you!

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I keep thinking I'll remember everything about my little girl, and then I realize I remember nothing.

Thank goodness for the video camera to capture moments my abysmal memory won't keep.

BTW you won my giveaway... :)

I am SO glad you wrote this. I always think to myself, Oh, I'll never forget all of the cute things my little one says...and then a year later, when it has all been replaced by new things that she's doing, it all gets fuzzy.

Would you think I'm weird if I told you I have about 10 of those Taco Bell dogs? I thought they were so awesome when they came out many years ago and started collecting them. :) They make good toys now.
