Dear deer

Dear deer, I never would've intentionally hit you with my van. Apparently you had some issues, because you seemed quite intent on harming yourself. Despite the fact that this was not my idea of a fun Monday nights activities I have to smile that perhaps you knew how much we needed a new vehicle. No, I did not purposefully use you, but I can say that we aren't grieving the van which now has damages which would require more money to fix than it is worth. The cruise control had quit working a couple of months ago. The ABS had gone out. The check engine light had come on. All of this happened previous to my up close and personal meeting with you. We were really just trying to drive this vehicle for as long as we could, crossing our fingers that it would last until we could afford to get some thing else. We wait to hear what the settlement will be, but because of you dear deer, we will finally be able to do what we have been wanting to for a while. We will be shopping for a different vehicle. I am sorry if you are laying in a field somewhere with terrible injuries, but again let me remind you that I did slam on my brakes to avoid hurting you and you continued your attack upon me. If it is any consolation I did dream about you last night. ~Wendi

Hi Wendi,

Just checking in on you, haven't commented in awhile. So sorry to hear about your van and the deer, but glad to hear you have been wanting a new vehicle and your ok. Deers don't like to watch for vehicles they just like to jump in front of you. My hubby always told me just step on the gas and go for it, but gut reaction is to slam on the brakes. Hope you have a better rest of the week.

I wish you did not have to go through the crash, and the hassle of not having a vehicle for a few days. But, how awesome that God had his hand in this. You are safe and now the new vehicle you need is on its way. I love you, friend!

So glad you weren't hurt. Deer can be so pesky. I've nearly avoided crashes several times. But I hear ya on the van dying a slow painful death. Blessings for that little bonus.

This post makes me laugh because it reminds me of something that happened to my father-in-law once. One night my hubby gets a call to come over to my in-laws house with his camera. So we go over there and find his dad decked out in camo head-to-toe (I'd never seen him hunt before in the entire time we were married). He has this huge buck laying in the back of his truck and he wants my hubs to get some pics of it. So this whole time we're thinking he's gone hunting and shot this huge deer. Then my MIL pulls me aside and says, "He didn't shoot that. He hit it with his truck when it ran out in front of him. He threw it in the bed and came home and put on his camo so he can have the 'real' hunting experience." We've never let him live it down!

Good luck finding a new car! Very thankful that none of ya'll were hurt!

Oh my! I've never hit anything. I dread the day when a bird, squirrel, cat, or some other small creature crosses my path. You sound like you didn't freak, I would have. Glad to know you are all okay, here's to hoping you get great new ride.

This happened to me once. I slowed down to like 2 miles an hour and the deer just ran into my car.

Crazy deer.

Oh deer your car really is 'totaled' I am so glad your all ok!

We had an incident like this, a miracle in disguise - where mum and dad had lost a lot of money on a car and were going to sell it but wouldn't get much money for it. Dad joked that the best thing that could happen was if mum wrote it off. A week later she rolled it with my brother, me, the dog and a bunch of tools (stakes, sledgehammers etc) in it! We were going out to my grandparents new place where dad was building them a house (hence the tools) We all walked out completely unhurt. The corner before I changed seats for no reason and as we rolled watched the tools fall past where I was sitting. And mum and dad got the full price of the car back in insurance, as well as a dozen other miracles.

Gos was so real to us through this situation!

Good luck car shopping :)
