The one where I talk an awful lot about myself

This post could very well be more than you want to know. I have been tagged by a couple of sweet friends and will now divulge some exciting details about who I am. :) First, Jackie from Our Moments Our Memories tagged me (Since she dubbed me her soul sista, how could I turn her down in doing this?). :) I am supposed to write 6 random things about myself. The only hard part here is limiting it to 6! Get ready for random!
1. When staying at a hotel, the first thing I do is promptly go to the bed and 'unmake' it. I can not stand the way it feels to have those sheets tucked so tightly under the mattress! I must have blanket freedom.
2. I am afraid of birds. I have never even seen the notorious old time horror movie about them, but I jut have this thing with birds... I can appreciate the beauty of them when they are far away, but if they start to get close (like 100 yard or so...) I just know they are coming to peck my eyes out and flap their dark scary wings against my face. Is that not frightening to you?!
One of Dave and I's first dates was at the zoo. At one point we had to walk through an aviary to get to where we wanted to go. It was an interesting way for Dave to get to know me! :)
3. I am quite a contradiction of myself. Like - I would maybe be labeled a 'type A B' person. :) When most people meet me they think I am a really organized person. I have yet to figure out where that impression comes from. Anyway, I tend towards the cluttery procrastinator type. Since I can't stand that - I have become the kind of person who can't relax until every thing is in it's place and cleaned up. Perhaps it is an overcompensation for the qualities (lazy and messy) that I abhor in myself. Let me tell you, having those opposing qualities warring within me is pretty tiring! :)
4. Along the lines of contradictions in myself, I often comment on how noisy life with three (four counting the Dave) guys is and how much I enjoy quiet when given the opportunity. AND YET - when that very opportunity comes my way it is almost always a guarantee that the radio will be turned on and cranked up by none other than ME! :) I love my music and I like it loud.
5. (Deep confidence building breath here) Confession time: I have a geeky side. Really and truly. I love figuring out things about my computer. I am quite inexperienced and unskillful about such things, but I love it when I figure things out all on my own by trial and error. And trial and error really is how I have figured out every thing I know about technology - an embarrassing amount of hours spent tinkering with stuff that the averagely skilled person could figure out in a fraction of the time. But the joy is in the satisfaction of the discovery right? :) I just got a new cell phone and today has been full of exciting discoveries. Not the least of which being that it has increased my internet speed considerably. I also turn my GPS on in my mini van every time I leave the driveway. Even to places I have gone to countless times and are only a few miles away. I just think it's cool. But please don't tell any one!
6. My pulse quickens whenever I am working on creating and beautifying any thing! I love to work on scrapbooks, knitting (My skills include big scarves, medium sized scarves, and small scarves. It's called talent!), taking pictures and messing with photo software, sewing, cooking, decorating the house, and fashion/accessorizing.
Paint colors, fabrics, designs, and such are an energizing, giddy, joy inducing drug for me. :) When I designed my new header, the buttons that you see on the left column, and my new button on the irght (isn't it cool?) for this blog Dave thought I had won the lottery or something because I was in this flighty stupor of blissfulness. It was just the pure joy of having a vision and creating it!
So there you have it friends. Aren't you glad you know all of that now??
My next little piece of business has to do with this sweet Tree of Happiness award that came all the way from Australia!! I love this one - and the coolest thing is that I can't even read it. It doesn't get much more authentic than that!! KT Mac from A Little Bird Told Me So sent this my way. She is such a sweetie. I love her art/design/photography talents!
Apparently there is something about six today because along with this award I am supposed to list six things that are making me happy. :) 1. Taking a walk with Jay and Noe in the unseasonably cool morning. Feeling a chubby little 1 1/2 year old hand nestled in one of my hands and a 3 year old hand pulling at my other one. :) 2. Picking these "petty fow-ahs" (Noe's version of pretty flowers) and the excitement the boys had over my exclaiming over them and putting them into a vase. 3. My new shiny silver and orange phone. Yes I did take a picture of my phone - see #5 of previous list. 4. The strong arms that engulf me daily. 5. A family date which we are all eagerly anticipating today. So maybe it involves a neurologist appointment for K, but we have learned to make these into fun outings too. :) After the appointment we are going to enjoy the county fair and maybe even an elephant ear. :) 6. The subtle hintings at autumn approaching. I.Love.Fall. I love the crisp scent, I love the cool feel, I love the vibrant colors. I love soft sweaters and dark denim jeans. My favorite colors ever are deep reds, burnt oranges, rich browns and yellows. Mmmm ~ it is coming! I am excited. As if all of the listings weren't enough - I do feel like I am on a roll now, so I will leave you with this fun little quiz I took the other day of where I belong. :)
You Belong in Rome
You're a big city soul with a small town heart Which is why you're attracted to the romance of Rome Strolling down picture perfect streets, cappuccino in hand And gorgeous Italian people - could life get any better?

You are so fun! I feel like I know you a little better now. LOL at #1...I can just see you making a beeline for the bed to untuck everything.

I didn't realize you had a button now...it's so pretty! Did you make it yourself? I am so impressed at your creativity...I want to do a completely different blog design but I don't have a good vision for it yet. Anyway, I'm grabbing your button now.

And go figure...I apparently belong in Rome as well. Which is fine by me...I've always wanted to visit there! Someday...

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog (shannon, linked from Genny's),if you can call it a blog LOL. I'm glad you got something out of my ramblings. :) How do I subscribe to your blog? I'm actually not computer illiterate, but definitely blog illiterate. From reading your blog, I found we have some things in common. I look forward to getting to know you through your blog (probably not mine as I don't ever update it). :)

I had to tell you your blog made me go look for more David Cook music, because Always be My Baby was playing. Amazing song!

Thank you again and God bless!

Shannon

I too am self-taught with this blog-thing, and remember, when I was born, no one even THOUGHT of computers!

I really LOVE the buttons on your left sidebar, and you DID IT! WOW! Would it be possible...could you tell me HOW? Please.

ooh yay you did the Tree of Happiness Award even though i just realized I did not put the pic up or leave any instructions on what to do..woops off to fix that up now! And thank you for the sweet words you left :)I wish I could read it the award too. I see the word Amigos in there - isn't that Spanish??

love your other lists too :)
And I too am scared of birds and hate avires where you have to walk through! I put my head down and run. I think my phobia came from when i was little and my cousins locked me a hen house or when my friend's father (a good fisherman) tackled a pelican at a pelican feeding to help the rangers get a hook out of his foot and the other pelicans went flapping and rolling all over us ergk!
