Seriously, what could be better? :) After a delicious meal with Dave's parents, and a little bit of rest, we went on a quest to fulfil our dear janitor's Father's day vision. It was a simple one; airplane watching at the airport with his boys and girl. He's so easy! :) It was a bit windy, we got rained on briefly, but the place was hoppin' and it culminated in some charming memories being made. The boys were in awe. At one point a helicopter flew directly over us. That was just 'it' for the guys. Can life get better than that when you are 18 months(almost), 3, 5, and 3o some thing year old boys?? Yes, actually it can for the younger set; when mom hops over to Little Cesar's and grabs a bag of just-out-of-the-oven crazy bread. So whether it was sitting on the hood of the emblematic mini van, experiencing the power of flying air crafts, or cuddling inside of said vehicle, listening to the rain, and sharing the warm carb filled treat (The janitor opted for more diet friendly treats on his special day, but did not begrudge the rest of us one of our favorites...), it was nice. It was us. It was simple and refreshing.

Sounds like a fun, wholesome celebration! I love it when the simple things in life result in such pleasure . . .

ps i hope you are feeling well:)
This sounds just about perfect! My daddy used to take us out when we were small, and I loved it. Still do. Your precious little guys will always remember these wonderful family moments.
Memories for a lifetime! Since we live near an Air Force base, we have a daily air show over our backyard. Rather common fare around here, but always makes me proud to be an American when I see those choppers fly overhead.

I keep forgetting about parking and watching the planes fly in and out. thanks for the idea, my Misters would enjoy that too.
What a sweet way to celebrate Father's Day! My son is 19 and still talks about the handfull of times we went to watch the airplanes. = ) We'd try to imagine where people were coming from or going to...great fun. Sweet pictures of a special day. = )
Oh, Wendi I have an idea for you! When my daughter was 4 yrs old, I asked a local hanger/airplane owner if we could have the birthday party in their office/ hanger? And they were closed on a Saturday except for mechanics. He'd NEVER had a request like that before. He openned up his hanger, let us run around - tons of space - and even let the kids play hide and seek IN THE AIRPLANES!! (he said when his were little they would too)
We gave those cheap glider airplanes from the dollar store as gifts, and we zoomed around the hanger. The kids STILL talk about it! :) (And it was free.) Now that I think about it, that was a REALLY good idea. lol Oh - and we decorated with that Jet plane little blue dude - cartoon. Darn what's his name?
